Love wordpress, it is so very advanced and flexible, and yet be prepared for a medium learning curve..the system is easy, plugins created by the brightest minds help us do almost all we want. i would just warn against the paradox of “change” sometime the old is confy, and efficient and the new though more powerful feel clumsy at first. Take a peek at themeforest.net and see if you can find a “theme” that would suit your fancy. Good developers from all over the world sell their creations for a small fee. I bought several myself, I am sure you could find a good mix of photography portfolio/ blog/etc.. I make you a minimalist of sorts, with no use for flashy setups the young utterly love.
